Azure Barrett

I work with acrylic ink and paint. I enjoy the fluidity of these mediums when mixed with water. I embrace the way the colours merge across the surface. The marks are spontaneous, dancing and flowing. The paintings are full of energy and movement. 

My emotions drive my practice and my painting process. I have been able to explore my sexuality using a variety of sensual colours, shapes and forms that are resonating with my subject. My paintings celebrate the sexual difference between men and women from a female perspective and the feelings and desires I have that are sometimes unknown but ‘felt’ qualities.

My paintings show a thorough and tender exploration of intimacy in which I attempt to understand and express my own experiences, as a woman who is full of love. I use colours and marks to signify specific desires and emotions. As my painting journey progresses, I learn more about myself as an individual and the nuances of human interaction and connection.
