Lawrence Brennan

I consider myself a printmaker who enjoys making and developing prints from drawings. I have based my work on various themes relating to my modules. These have included Escapism, Abandoned Objects, Recycling, Technology, The Environment, War and Conflict. My most recent work has been based on Visual Metaphors looking into how objects can be seen to describe people's feelings and emotions linked to the current pandemic. An example of this is the scissors cutting a ribbon in half to describe how people feel cut off from making plans with friends and relatives.
I enjoyed researching various artists and the way they use objects to symbolize death. An example of this is the skull. I thought this would best relate to my project on Visual Metaphors. I consider myself someone who enjoys making still life drawings of objects which I then link into my projects. I am always making and producing work which responds to historical and current issues.
